There are at least three things that make Emergency & I truly special. First of all, theres the rhythm section: the bass and drums are completely in organic lockstep without sounding forced or robotic. Theres a whack of different types of percussion on the record, from punk-like tribal pounding to the well-placed use of kitschy drum machines, the latter particularly on You Are Invited. The band's third full album is a firecracker, showing their at once passionate and sly approach to music - take in everything, put it back out, and give it its own particular sheen and spin - is in no danger of letting up. Knowing fans of the quartet have spoken on how it's clear that the bandmembers listen to everything from old soul to hip-hop and techno and back again, and there's no argument here based on the evidence of this disc. The Dismemberment Plan was a Washington D. based indie rock band formed on January 1, 1993. Also known as D-Plan or The Plan, the name came from a stray phrase uttered by insurance salesman Ned Ryerson in the popular comedy Groundhog Day. The band members included Eric Axelson bass, Jason Caddell guitar, Joe Easley drums, and Travis Morrison vocals and guitar. Axelson, Caddell, Morrison and original drummer Steve Cummings formed the band in college, knowing each other from attending northern.
