Released on June 16, 2017 as the follow-up to their 2011 album Helplessness Blues, Crack-Up is the bands first release on Nonesuch Records. It is also their first release in six years, following a three-year hiatus from 2013 to 2016. I read the essay at a time when I wasnt really sure what I cared about exactly, which is something Fitzgerald addresses a bit. I wasnt focusing on music, I was trying to find other hobbies but nothing else had quite the same pull. Beyond that, there are themes in the essay that come up a lot on the album, both lyrically and musically. Fleet Foxes' Crack-Up from the 2017 album Fleet Foxes music has grown increasingly more complex and less crowd-pleasing, Pecknolds personal trajectory has strangely aged in reverse-the old-soul serenity of Fleet Foxes gave way to the post-grad anxieties of Helplessness Blues, and now we have Crack-Up, which does not present recent Columbia enrollee Robin Pecknold in the most flattering light. Crack-Up contains his most compelling writing to date because its so damn relatable in 2017-reacting and retreating inwards as people and institutions fail to meet the standards set in ones head. Songs in album Fleet Foxes - Crack-Up 2017. Fleet Foxes - I Am All That I Need, Arroyo Seco, Thumbprint Scar. Fleet Foxes - - Naiads, Cassadies. Fleet Foxes - Kept Woman. Fleet Foxes - Third Of May, Ōdaigahara. Fleet Foxes - If You Need To, Keep Time On Me. Fleet Foxes - Mearcstapa. Fleet Foxes - On Another Ocean January, June. Fleet Foxes - Fool's Errand. Fleet Foxes releases Crack-Up, its long-awaited and highly anticipated third album, June 16 on Nonesuch Records. Crack-Up comes six years after the 2011 release of Helplessness Blues and nearly a decade since the band's 2008 self-titled debut. Fleet Foxes has released the album track Third of May, Ōdaigahara, a nearly nine-minute epic powered by piano and electric twelve-string guitar, string quartet, and the group's trademark sparkling harmonies. Mine sounds absolutely terrible....#1008. Sounds like it has been sitting out in a thrift store since '78. Practically unlistenable.
  • Kinashand
Why is there no autographed version? Clearly, this was a limited pressing that should have it's own entry.
  • Chillhunter
My copy sounds excellent and I adore the music, great packaging too. Some of y’all are nuts
  • Tori Texer
This is such an amazing album. Easily contender for my album of the year. So far only the new War On Drugs could compete again this release.
  • Oreavi
went through 3 copies of the coloured edition until I finally received a nonfill / noisefree one. seems like copies in the middle run of the release (550 - 650?) have serious non fill problems on the 2nd lp. My new copy is the early run, no. 37. took a while but now I'm perfectly pleased! thanks to the customer support of vmp.
  • Arthunter
My copy is near dead silent, very pleased. Mastered by Greg Calbi.
  • Jogas
My copy turned out to sound like crap. Quite a bits of pops nad clicks, I didn't test it out before I cleaned it but now I'm worried spin clean caused this. :(
  • Efmprof
My SO has a copy of this and it's pretty much unlistenable. Pops and cracks all over the place. It's probably the single worst "new" pressing I've ever heard. It sounds like it's been sitting in a thrift store for decades...#1008....
  • Roram
Yeah I'm beginning to doubt spin clean, seems like a waste of money but I don't towel clean I air dry and kept a purifier in my room to keep the dust to a min.
  • Modred
They're like an imperfectly pressed record bad. Not outrageous and unbearable but like a good copy of a Bon Iver record. Not sure if it's intentional though.
  • Haal
Your spin clean process likely introduced a low-grade crackle into the sound due to the dirtiness of the water or drying towels. My first spin cleans were also unsuccessful. I think my towels were also to blame and were not entirely as clean as they should have been. I'm not convinced on the SC and have held off since, likely moving to a vacuumed based cleaning system soon (the MKIII).
  • Butius
Are the pops and clicks really loud and totally interrupt the music (like an old thrift store record would)? or do they somewhat blend in the background but still sound kind of annoying? Cause for some bizarre reason there's pops and clicks in the digital version as well. Not sure if that was intentional or just that this was messed up at some stage in the mastering process.
  • Jothris
Hey, would love to hear some feedback on the actual sound of the colored pressing if anyone wants to share!
  • Asyasya
Sounds great here. Fills the room with sound and dead quiet.
  • Meztisho
Dead quiet on my pressing. Looks great and sounds perfect.
  • Levaq
Listening to the color vinyl version right now, sounds fine to me, it's not as heavyweight as a standard black press
  • Jazu
Is the numbered pressing really that much better than the regular pressing?
  • Winenama
No it doesn't sound better, it should sound the same as the standard press
  • RuTGamer
I meant that is the color pressing superior since it has much better reviews on discogs, does it sound better etc..
  • Iphonedivorced
Nope, it has the same songs as the standard black pressing except its on color and numbered
  • Olelifan
Can anyone post some pictures of the record? I'm curious to see what it looks like.
  • Oghmaghma
added a photo of mine - it's pretty nice when you hold it up to the light it's actually an even more transparent blue. took the photo under some flat light as that's how it looks when it's on the turntable.
  • Samutilar
If you go to the VinylMePlease reddit thread there is a pic - it looks really nice. I'd embed a hyperlink, but I can't seem to figure it out in this reply box.
